foiling

These are the results of my first attempt at foiling with Sweet Poppy Stencils using hot foil and laminator.  I was really pleased with the results after seeing Lucy demonstrate on Hochanda last week.

Hobby Art dragon fly set of stamps with a few Lavinia stamps.  Squeezed lemon, dried marigold and seedless preserve distress inks.  Clean colour pens and clear sparkle pen.  Inked over a stencil, a few of the Lavinia stamps for the background and a few for cutting.  Dragon fly and daisys from the Hobby Art set.  Followed a card given to me for my birthday from Marianne Lait.  I'm not as clever as Marianne, I couldn't cut out the bluebells as finely as she does, so I inked over the white bits.

3 distress inks, squeezed lemon, barn door and dried marigold.  Joanna Sheen stencil for background,  Inkylicious stamp and sentiment and Bee Crafty frame.  Bit of fussy cutting for the birds.

3 distress inks, squeezed lemon, barn door and dried marigold.  Joanna Sheen flower stamps and sentiment.  Diluted a bit of white gel pen and painted the leaves on a few of the flowers.  2 old stencils, can't remember where they came from, I've had them years but not really used them until today.

Birthday card for my lovely son.  Not sure about the side bits,  It did need something on the sides but I think I could have planned it better.

I used an inkylicious stamp for the main part and used distress inks for the background.   The strip at the bottom was also and inkylicious stamp and distress inks.  I used a brush to blend the inks, I'm finding that I can get a better finish with the brushes, I still get odd spots or blobs using the little sponges or the distress ink tools.  I used the grasses for the sides but it was an after thought which didn't quite go to plan, next time I might put a piece of acetate over the top and plan the edge a bit better, I would be able to see the end result without having the problem of not being able to change it if I didn't quite like it.
